Substance identification is basically trying to determine what type of substance, whether it be a drug, steroid, common household chemical, antifreeze, and others. This is important if you find some white powder in your kid's bag, the drink you had made you sick, you discovered a variety of pills and tablets in your house, and much more, and you are curious or perhaps confirm your suspicions on what you have found.
The Science of Substance ID
In most cases, identification of an unknown substances are usually chemical in nature. The other type of substance is microbial such as fungus, bacteria, and viruses. A substance can be as simple as a table salt that has a chemical formula of NaCl, or Sodium Chloride or a more complex chemical compound such as Testosterone a hormone with a chemical formula of C19H28O2. As simple or as complex the substances that need to be identified, at Toxassociates, Inc. we have develop many methods to properly identify the unknown compounds.
